[Encore] EnCore 5 Internet Email, Emoting, Etc. Problems

Hi, All--I've recently tried to upgrade my enCore installations on
two servers (from 4.0.1 to Beta 5), and I've run into the same
problems on both machines. I've looked through the listserv archives
and haven't found my issues addressed, so I was hoping I could appeal
to the knowledgeable folk here. I don't want to bore you with my
details, but I do want to give those interested in helping as much
information as possible. So here goes:

Both machines are running Debian Linux (etch) with Apache 2.2.4.

I've done a completely fresh installation of both the LambdaMOO
server and enCore database and files (new directories new ports) on
both servers. I've also installed the patch "enCore-5.0b-
build_001.patch." The new installations work FOR THE MOST PART, but
I've run into a few quirks, one of which is critical.

The first problem is that Internet email is not working (it worked
fine with version 4.0.1). I've pasted in the error message in the
P.S. to this email. I've tried using enCore 5 with both my old
LambdaMOO server (1.8.1), as well as a newly compiled Unicode-patched
LambdaMOO 1.8.1 server (and I am certain that both servers are
configured to allow outbound email).

I could live without Internet email. The second set of quirks is
more critical. A certain set of commands--most notably
"emoting" (:)--produces tracebacks. In the Web interface, nothing
happens--the MOO just ignores the input. In a telnet-type session,
however, the following traceback is produced:

##############################
#3:announce_all (this == #62), line 9: Incorrect number of arguments
... called from #3:emote (this == #62), line 4
(End of traceback)
##############################

I can't imagine mooing without emoting. So this is the deal
breaker; however, enCore 5 looks so great in other ways, I wouldn't
mind living with the other minor problems, if someone could help me
fix the emoting thing....

Here is another example of a traceback I get in a telnet session:
this one happens when the "think" command is used:

##############################
#3:announce_all (this == #62), line 9: Incorrect number of arguments
... called from #91:think, line 3
... called from #6:my_huh (this == #2), line 26
... called from #56:do_huh, line 6
... called from #1:huh (this == #62), line 2
(End of traceback)
##############################

Has anyone else encountered these types of problems with enCore 5?
One of my servers is at http://www.saintodilo.org:7000 (telnet port
7777). It's set for anonymous character creation, and if some
willing soul needs the wiz bit turned on to help, please just let me
know.  Thanks much!  --Angelo

P.S.: Here is the error message I get when I try to send Internet
email:

Sorry, a little error occurred.

If this persists, please talk to an administrator. Thanks.
